Traditionally, as in most professional sectors, women have been relegated to the background in the music industry. However, the presence of women in recent years has seen a notable increase across the various professional areas that make up this sector, from musical artists to sound production specialists.<\/p>\n

This progress is also evident in the increase of women seeking training in music production. That is why this reality is also reflected in us, EUMES, a music production school <\/a>recognised in Spain and Latin America for the quality and excellence of our higher-level training.<\/p>\n

The growing presence of women producers in the music industry
<\/h2>\n

Although the music industry still has a predominantly male presence, the last decade has shown a sustained trend of change due to the hard work of countless women who for years have pointed out the lack of equity and equal opportunities in the sector.<\/p>\n

Among the main musical hits of 2024, the number of female producers, songwriters and artists has reached record figures. In the past year, it has been observed that the percentage of women producers<\/a> appearing on the charts has reached 7.2%, marking a historic high. Likewise, the participation of female songwriters has risen to 22%, demonstrating steady progress. In parallel, female artists now occupy 37% of the top 100 hits of the year, far surpassing figures from previous cycles.<\/p>\n

This boom is also driven by prominent names in music production such as Emily Lazar, the first woman to win a Grammy in the Sound Engineering category, Linda Perry, known for producing major hits for artists like Christina Aguilera and P!nk, and Martine\u00e9, producer of Rosal\u00eda, whose international career has marked a before and after in modern music.<\/p>\n

These figures and examples demonstrate that women are revolutionising the music industry, but to consolidate this transformation it is essential to strengthen the training and professionalisation of artists, producers and songwriters. This objective is one of our main missions at EUMES.<\/p>\n

Higher education that promotes equality in the music industry
<\/h2>\n

Education plays a crucial role in empowering women producers. In this context, EUMES is a higher education school in advanced music and sound production whose work contributes to the professionalisation of the different professionals in the music sector. Our training programmes emphasise the use of digital technologies, promoting equity, democratisation and inclusion within this industry.<\/p>\n

These tools make it possible to showcase the talent of artists and producers who, in other circumstances, would not have the means to make their work known. In this context, we have also helped to promote gender equality in the sector through training programmes such as the Diploma in Advanced Music and Sound.<\/a><\/p>\n

This programme, pioneering in Spain and with students from all over Latin America, welcomes a growing number of women who aspire to lead change in the music industry. From sound production and composition to management, these future women producers represent the future of a more inclusive and diverse sector.<\/p>\n

For many women, names like Bj\u00f6rk, Missy Elliott and Grimes are examples of what is possible to achieve in the music industry as producers. Their success highlights how creativity, technique and innovation, together with a genuine personality, can combine to break barriers and redefine the musical landscape.<\/p>\n
