1. Berlin Calling (2008)

Genre: Musical drama

Starring: Paul Kalkbrenner

An essential classic if you plan to study music production or dream of making a living from music. Berlin Calling immerses us in the life of Ickarus, a DJ and producer on the rise internationally. Clubs, airports, parties and a frenetic pace of life, accompanied by a soundtrack composed by Kalkbrenner himself. A story about excesses and the real side of success in the techno scene.

2. Human Trafficking (1999)

3. It's All Gone Pete Tong (2004)

One of the most unique films about the figure of the DJ. It tells the story of Frankie Wilde, legend of the Ibizan scene, who had it all… until he lost his hearing. 4. Eden (2015)

Genre: Musical drama

Inspired by the true story of the French House pioneers , Eden follows the rise of a young Parisian DJ during the 90s. It is a generational portrait of the European electronic scene and the impact of fame on personal life. Highly recommended if you want to understand the changes in the music business over the last 30 years and how independent artists managed to position themselves globally.

5. 24 Hour Party People (2002)

Genre: Biopic / Comedy

Although not purely electronic, this film captures the spirit of the scenes that laid the foundations of house and techno.. It tells the story of Tony Wilson and the musical explosion of Manchester between the 70s and 90s. A tribute to the roots of British clubbing that every music production student should see.

6. Good Vibrations (2012)

Genre: Biographical / Musical

An alternative gem that, while not directly focusing on electronic music, recalls the power of music as a tool for social change. It follows the story of Terri Hooley and her punk label in the midst of the Irish Civil War. If you’re interested in the music business and how to move the scene since independence, this is for you.
