More control, more creativity and new tools for music producers.
Ableton Live is much more than a DAW. For thousands of artists and producers around the world, it’s the heart of their musical creativity. And now, with the launch of Ableton Live 12.3, the possibilities are expanded with new features designed to take your sound to the next level.
At EUMES, we work with this software every day in our classrooms. We know it inside out, and that’s why today we’re telling you what’s new and how these updates can make a difference if you’re just starting out or want to perfect your career and study music production.
Main new features of Ableton Live 12.3
1. Stem Separation
The new Separate Stems to New Audio Tracks feature allows you to extract up to four stems from any audio file: vocals, drums, bass, and others.
Practical key: Perfect for remixes, mashups, bootlegs and edits.
2. Splice Integration
We can now enjoy Splice without leaving Live, with an integrated search engine that allows us to import sounds directly adjusted to the BPM and key of the project. In addition, there is a new function that allows us to select a fragment of the project (either one track or several) and import it into Splice so that it can suggest compatible sounds.
Practical key: Less time searching, more time creating.
3. Group dump
Live 12.3 incorporates a new feature that allows you to export the audio of a group to a new track, ideal for resampling and/or optimizing CPU usage.
Practical key: Are you having CPU performance issues? Try dumping some groups to work more efficiently.
4. New improved effect: Auto Pan-Tremolo
The native Auto Pan effect now has an improved version: Auto Pan-Tremolo, with new functions for both stereo modulation and for applying tremolo and sidechain pumping effects.
Practical key: Take advantage of these improvements to design more complex sounds without leaving the Live ecosystem.
5. Effects with A/B function
From this version, Ableton Live allows you to compare two configurations of the same effect, easily switching between A and B to evaluate which sound best suits the production.
Practical key: Not sure which effect works best? Try version B and compare settings to make better creative decisions.
