Why study the Intensive Mixing and Mastering Course?
Judgement and method
Understand why each decision works instead of using presets and hoping it sounds good.
All in the box
The same techniques used in professional studios, with the software you already have.
Practical methodology
On-site or live classes, working on real mixing sessions.
Your own tracks
Leave with your own productions mixed and mastered.
Make the leap to professional sound
Mixing and mastering are the final creative processes of a production. The mix makes the elements communicate with each other and find their place. The mastering ensures the whole sounds good on any device and matches the sound of other commercial productions in the same genre.
You will work on both using real sessions.
- Equalization
- Compression and dynamics
- Stereo imaging and M/S
- Saturation and effects
- Mastering chain
- Loudness and standards
STUDY PLAN
From demo to final master
A course designed for those who already produce and want to finish what they do. Each block combines the concept with immediate practice on real sessions, up to mixing and mastering your own tracks.
- Foundations and criteria
What mixing is and what it isnt. Monitoring, listening conditions and the use of reference tracks to make objective decisions.
- Session organisation
Gain-staging, workflow order, groups and buses. The preparation that decides whether a mix will go smoothly or be a struggle.
- Equalisation
Types of equaliser and when to use each. Correction and colour, and how to fit each element within the spectrum.
- Dynamics processing
Compressors: types, parameters and real-world applications. How to glue a mix without squashing it.
- Pan and stereo image
Panning, stereo and M/S processing to separate elements and create depth.
- Saturation and effects
Saturation and effects
Auxiliary sends, reverbs, delays and saturation as tools for character and space.
- Automation and finishing
The detail that separates a correct mix from a lively mix: movement, clarity and coherence throughout the track.
- Mastering: the final chain
Equalisation and compression criteria for mastering, serial, parallel and multiband compression, and why the order of elements changes everything.
- Loudness and delivery
Use of the limiter, management of the stereo image and measurement systems: LUFS, True Peak, RMS and dB. What each platform requires.
- Final project
You mix and master your own tracks, matching the sound of a reference track, with personalised correction.
Practical classes, real mixing sessions, continuous feedback and your tracks finished to a professional standard.
IS IT FOR ME?
Who is the Mixing and Mastering course aimed at?
Producers with a background in music production who notice their tracks don’t reach the level of the references they listen to, and want to understand why.
You don’t need to have taken any prior course or to use a specific DAW: you’ll work with your own. We do recommend that you have your own productions finished or partially finished to work on during the course.
