FAQs
Still have questions?
What qualification do you obtain upon completing these studies?
Upon completing the programme you will obtain the Higher Music Diploma in the Specialisation of Sonology (Degree in Music and Sound Production). This is an official Higher Artistic Education qualification recognised by the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Ministry of Education, equivalent in all respects to a University Degree (240 ECTS credits and 4 years in duration) within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
What is the difference between a CFGS in Sound and the Higher Degree in Sonology?
While a Higher Level Vocational Training Diploma (CFGS) is a 2-year vocational qualification (120 ECTS), the Higher Degree in Sonology at EUMES is a four-year higher degree (240 ECTS) at university level. This degree integrates advanced music production, sound engineering, synthesis, acoustics and sound design applied to creative and audiovisual industries.
How many places are available for the Sonology specialisation?
In order to ensure personalised practical training and smooth access to facilities and recording studios, the Sonology specialisation has an admission limit of 15 places per academic year.
What academic requirements must I meet to enrol?
To access the Official Degree two conditions must be met:
- Academic requirement: hold the Baccalaureate diploma (any modality), a Higher Level Vocational Training Diploma (CFGS), a university degree, a higher music degree or have passed the university entrance exams for those over 25.
- Entrance exam: pass the specific entrance exam of the Higher Artistic Education in Music.
Is any interview required during the admission process?
Yes. As part of the admission process a personal interview is conducted with the EUMES team to assess your motivation, your professional goals and your artistic profile.
How can I prepare for the entrance exam?
EUMES offers a specific Preparatory Course designed and taught by the degree’s own teaching team. Its aim is to train the exam skills, review analysis and aural content, and carry out exam simulations.
What facilities and equipment will I use during the degree?
Classes are taught between the EUMES Figueres Campus and the EUMES Girona Campus. You will have access to recording studios inside and outside the school, equipped with state-of-the-art analogue and digital technology, music IT classrooms with individual workstations and industry-standard software.
Can I apply for the Official Ministry Scholarship (MEC Scholarship)?
Yes. As EUMES is an officially recognised Higher Artistic Education Centre, students enrolled in the Official Degree can apply for the general scholarships from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MEFP) under the same conditions as students at public universities. The grants may include fixed amounts for income, residence and excellence, as well as a variable amount. You can find more information here.
Are there financing options?
In addition to the Catalan Government and Ministry grants, EUMES offers personalised financing options to make tuition payment easier with adapted instalments. Request information by filling in the form at the bottom of the page.
